dichotomy paradox One of Zeno's paradoxes, whose name stems from the basis of the argument, i.e. repeatedly splitting the distance into two parts (the dichotomy) infinitely often. The argument is that motion can never be started because that infinite process will never be completed, because there are an infinite number of milestones to reach before the destination.
