Graeco‐Latin square

The notion of a Latin square can be extended to involve two sets of symbols. Suppose that one set of symbols consists of Roman letters and the other of Greek letters. A Graeco‐Latin square is a square array in which each position contains one Roman letter and one Greek letter, such that the Roman letters form a Latin square, the Greek letters form a Latin square, and each Roman letter occurs with each Greek letter exactly once. An example of a 3 × 3 Graeco‐Latin square is the following:
