information The information associated with an event E is −log2Pr(E), and the unit of information is a bit. So the information in a fair coin toss is 1 bit and in a fair die roll is log26 bits (which is between 2 and 3 bits). Note that the information relating to two independent events is equal to the sum of the separate events' information.
