Fourier Series

A series of sine or cosine waves added together to make another function.

Below is sin(x) + sin(3x)/3 + sin(5x)/5, which is starting to resemble a square wave.

The complete series sin(x) + sin(3x)/3 + sin(5x)/5 + ... (infinitely many) becomes a square wave.
