helicoid
A curve of constant r is a helix. Fixing θ = 0 gives the x-axis; the helicoid is generated moving the x-axis up and down the z-axis, rotating the generating line at a constant angular speed a. The helicoid is, aside from the plane, the only ruled surface which is also a minimal surface.
