Lebesgue, Henri (Léon) (1875–1941) French mathematician who revolutionized the theory of integration. Building on the earlier work of Borel and Jordan, he developed the Lebesgue integral, one of the outstanding concepts in modern analysis. His two major texts on the subject were published in the first few years of the 20th century.
