paradox The term paradox often refers to a self-contradictory statement or situation, as with Grelling's paradox, the liar paradox, Perron's paradox, and Russell's paradox. However the term is also used to refer to true statements that are highly counterintuitive, such as the Banach-Tarski paradox and Simpson's paradox. See also Zeno of Elea.
