Pythagoras (died about 500 bc) Greek philosopher, mathematician, and mystic. It is unclear how much mathematics can be reliably attributed to Pythagoras and his school. Certainly Pythagoras' Theorem and Pythagorean triples were known to Babylonian and Indian mathematicians centuries earlier.
