existence of partitions of unity

Theorem - Let $X$ be a paracompact Hausdorff space and ${\{U_i\}}_{i\in J}$ an open covering of $X$. Then there exists a partition of unity on $X$ subordinate to ${\{U_i\}}_{i\in J}$.
