Born, Max (1882–1970) German mathematician and theoretical physicist who collaborated with many of the best minds of the day including Heisenberg, Pauli, Fermi and Dirac. As a result of those collaborations he published important work on the foundations of quantum theory, and then his own studies providing a statistical interpretation of the wave function, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1954.
