coset (group) If H is a subgroup of a group G, then for any element, x of G there is a left coset xH consisting of all the elements xh, where h is an element of H. Similarly, there is a right coset, Hx, with elements hx. See also Lagrange's theorem, normal subgroup, quotient group.
