inviscid Not viscous. The force exerted across a small surface element within an inviscid fluid is pndS, where p denotes pressure, n is the unit normal, and dS is the surface area of the element. In a viscous fluid there would be tangential components to this contact force due to friction. See Euler's equations, Navier-Stokes equations.
