Tables that show life expectancies from current age for different groups in the population. While these tables are based on historical observations, they are adjusted according to expert opinion to take account of new conditions such as improving health care, increasing incidence of cancer, etc. They form part of the basis on which actuaries carry out their analysis for insurance companies when setting premiums and annuity rates.
