Schläfli, Ludwig (1814–95) Swiss mathematician mainly remembered now for the classification of regular polytopes—higher dimensional Platonic solids, of which there are six in four dimensions and three in higher ones—and generalizing Euler's theorem, though in his lifetime his work went unrecognized.
